The land protected by Ke Ao Hali'i is placed under conservation easement (protected in perpetuity) and allows the entire community to mālama 'āina.

The purpose of this fund is to cover the basic costs such as property taxes, insurance, basic maintenance and legal fees for land protected by Ke Ao Hali'i.
